White Brick Fireplace, Sonoma

A full-height fireplace wall anchors this Sonoma living room, clad in ARTO's handcrafted Bastogne Brick in Rice. The concrete brick rises from a long raised hearth to the beamed ceiling, framing a black firebox between two windows. Bastogne Brick is made to look like old reclaimed brick, with chipped edges, uneven faces and a rough, chalky surface, and the soft off-white Rice color lets that texture show in the changing light. The hearth is built from the same brick, giving the wall a solid, all-of-a-piece look. Close up, the irregular joints and layered surface read like a whitewashed brick wall that has been there for generations.
