The Story
In this kitchen, ARTO's handcrafted Artillo Hexagon tile in the Tres Grises blend covers the working core of the room. Three shades of gray, from pale cream-gray to deep warm gray, are mixed at random across the floor, so no two areas look the same. The hexagons run around a dark island and along gray cabinets, a stainless range and a white subway tile wall, then break off in a staggered, uneven edge where they meet the dark oak flooring of the dining and sitting areas. The same tile continues under a wood bench and coat hooks by the back door. Up close, the concrete shows soft clouding and fine surface marks that come from making each tile by hand.
