Tacos El Gavilan, Norwalk

At Tacos El Gavilan in Norwalk, ARTO's handcrafted Studio Conche tile fills the arched opening above the main entrance. The scallop-shaped ceramic pieces are laid in overlapping rows like fish scales and mix glossy cherry red, warm tan, honey gold and soft white glazes, echoing the red awnings and signage across the front of the building. Set within a cream stucco tower above the glass doors, the arch becomes a bright, textured focal point that guests see as they arrive. Up close, each glazed piece shows slight variations in tone and a thin pale rim along its curved edge, giving the facade a handmade look.
