Santa Ana Basketweave Home

This Santa Ana home has handcrafted ARTO ceramic tile in a rich Leather glaze laid throughout its living spaces. Rectangles and squares are set in a basketweave pattern that runs from the front door through the living room, under the built-in cabinets and up onto the raised hearth of a white plaster corner fireplace. In the hallways, the field is framed into tile rugs with a border of handpainted deco tiles in gold, rust and pale blue, punctuated by small green squares. The glaze varies from deep chestnut to reddish brown, and each tile has soft, pillowed edges. With wood ceiling beams, white walls and dark wood doors, the floor gives the house a warm, settled feel.
