Behind this San Diego home, a curving pool steps down toward a hillside garden planted with olive trees. The raised spa walls are clad in Studio Arabesque Pattern 8C in Sierra Snow, a soft white glaze whose hand-cut edges show a thin line of warm clay at every curve. The same handcrafted ceramic covers the wall of the covered outdoor room, framing the fireplace and television above a long dining table. Around the water, Artillo Roman coping and thin brick banding in Early Gray Limestone trace the pool edge, the spa steps and the sunken lounge around the fire pit. The pale, weathered texture of the concrete reads almost like natural stone and keeps the whole deck in a light, sun-washed palette.
