The Story
In this Salt Lake City home, a freestanding partition between the living area and entry is clad in Brute, a dimensional concrete tile from the M3LD collaboration, in Sidewalk Gray. Each square tile is carved with deep arcs, bends and straight channels, and the pieces are set so the lines meet and break across the wall like a graphic relief. The cool gray concrete picks up soft shadows from the room's warm lighting, giving the panel a sculptural, almost hand-carved look. A wood console with dried grasses and ceramic vases sits beside it, and a tufted leather sofa faces the wall from the living room. Because each tile is handcrafted, the surface shows gentle variation in tone and texture from piece to piece.
