Holt House Fireplace

In the vaulted living room of the Holt House, the fireplace wall is clad floor to ceiling in ARTO's Compass Star 8x8 dimensional concrete tile in Rice. Each tile is cast with crisp ridges that fan out from the corners, and set side by side they form repeating starbursts across the whole chimney. In daylight the soft, creamy Rice color stays quiet, letting light and shadow pick out the relief so the wall changes as the sun moves through the room. A long black linear firebox sits low in the field of tile. Around it, warm wood floors, woven rattan and leather seating, and a large white round table balance the pale, textured surface. Up close the handcrafted concrete shows a gentle, natural variation in tone.
