The Story
Under heavy timber beams and big windows looking out to the trees, this kitchen is floored in Kronos Italian porcelain in Crema. The floor mixes 8x8 and 8x12 pieces, laid in rows that give it the rhythm of an old stone floor. Each tile has softened, tumbled edges and a mottled surface in warm grays, taupes and creams, so the floor reads like weathered limestone while holding up as porcelain. It runs around a sage green island, along walls of warm wood cabinets with brass pulls and out through the doorway, tying the room together in one muted tone. The close-up views show the worn edges and subtle color shifts that give the floor its relaxed, lived-in character.
