Cotton Residence, La Jolla

Set above the La Jolla coastline, the Cotton Residence carries one handcrafted floor from the front door through the whole house. ARTO's Arabesque concrete tile in San Filipe runs through the entry hall, kitchen, library and bedrooms, its lantern shapes outlined by pale grout and framed by dark wood trim. Patterned risers bring color to the stairways, and warm terracotta tones carry on outside across the ocean terrace and pool deck. Because each tile is made by hand, the color shifts gently from piece to piece, so a large home feels settled rather than new.
