Costa Mesa Retreat

This Costa Mesa home carries handcrafted tile from the kitchen to the bath and out into the garden. In the kitchen, a Studio 4x4 backsplash in the Copper glaze reads as a deep, varied green, framed around a panel of hand-painted deco tile above the range. The bathroom floor is laid in Artillo 6" Hexagon in Cotto Gold, a warm terracotta tone with soft color shifts from piece to piece that sits easily beside white walls and a freestanding tub. A tiled bench front shows another hand-painted deco pattern in rust and teal. Outside, Studio Pata Grande 11x11 tile in Monrovia Red curves around the patio, its scalloped edges meeting a border of river pebbles and palms.
