Brick Facade Home, Huntington Beach

This Huntington Beach home is clad in handcrafted Antik Brick 2x8 in Early Gray. The brick wraps the lower gables, garage wings and entry court, while white board-and-batten siding fills the upper story. Antik brick has softened, tumbled edges and an uneven face, and here the pale finish reads almost white in full sun, giving the walls texture without heavy color. Deep window openings and the recessed front entry show the brick returning into the reveals, so the walls look solid and built rather than applied. Black windows, garage doors and lanterns stand out against the light masonry, and up close the irregular shapes and mortar joints give the facade a hand-laid, rustic feel.
