San Juan Capistrano City Hall Fountain

The courtyard of San Juan Capistrano City Hall centers on an octagonal fountain wrapped in ARTO tile. A band of handpainted T2-343 deco tiles circles the fountain, set above a zigzag border and framed by Studio ceramic tile in deep Lake Tahoe blue and Kale green. The same glazes form a checkerboard inside the basin and trim the low planter walls and benches around the courtyard. Underfoot, handcrafted concrete pavers in Hacienda with a Limestone finish are laid in a Roman pattern, with broad rings of lighter and darker pavers radiating out from the fountain. Against the white plaster and red tile roofs, the colors give the civic space a warm Mission-style character.
