The Gartner India report states that Acer has become the market leader in the desktop category for Q1 2010, by surpassing HP. Acer sold approximately 1,58,000 desktops, while HP sold 1,52,000 desktop PCs during Q1 2010.Acer's desktops cater to different verticals ranging from education to large PSUs and government organizations. In the last quarter, IDC India has reported HP to attain the top spot in the overall PC market, with a market share of 16.2 per cent, followed by Dell and Acer."The requirement for Desktops is still strong in verticals like education and government sectors as well as in smaller towns and cities when it comes to consumer sales. We are focussed on capitalizing on this opportunity and have introduced new products from time to time, focussing on various sub-segments to effectively tap into this market," said S. Rajendran, Chief Marketing Officer, Acer India.
